A school visit typically involves visiting your early years setting, such as a nursery, preschool, or any Pre-Prep classes, to provide guidance and support to the staff on a range of topics related to the care and education of young children. Ordinarily I will ask you to choose up to three core areas that you would like us to focus on, such as how to change your opening hours, how to attract more boys to your setting, or how to make better use of your outdoor space.
During the visit, I may observe the activities and interactions between staff and children, as well as the environment and resources available to support children's learning and development. I may also review documentation, such as policies, procedures, and records of children's progress, to gain an understanding of the setting's approach to early years education and care. We will meet to discuss your thoughts and feelings about the setting, and to explore some initial thoughts on your market demographic and potential avenues.
Following the observation and review, I would typically engage in a discussion with the staff to provide feedback and guidance on areas of strength and areas for improvement. I will offer suggestions on how to improve the quality of provision, such as recommendations for activities, routines, or resources to support children's learning and development. I may also provide guidance on regulatory and policy requirements, as well as opportunities for professional development and training for staff. I will discuss some initial ideas for business development, with these followed up in the report. The report will also summarise the findings and recommendations of the day.
Throughout the visit, my role is to provide support, encouragement, and guidance to the staff, helping them to enhance their practice and provide the best possible outcomes for the children in their care. The visit process is highly personalised and tailored to the needs and concerns of the setting, with the aim of helping them to continuously improve the quality of provision and meet the needs of the children and families they serve, enabling their setting to flourish.
Through my years as a Head, I have continually seen the impact that a powerful conversation can have. With so many plates to spin, it can be challenging to carve out the time to think strategically about a specific area of your school or setting but it really is critical in the role. A consultation call can provide exactly this opportunity. We can explore issues that you are currently facing, or ideas that you have for development and I will help you to frame these thoughts, develop an action plan and share my expertise in making changes for the better.
Consultation calls are also hugely beneficial for new leaders in Early Years and Pre-Preps, or existing leaders who are looking to improve their provision. Through either one-off calls, or a series of reflective check-in sessions, we can work together to develop ideas and the actions required to establish them in practice.
I am also happy to consult specifically on trouble-shooting challenges that you are experiencing, using my experience and expertise to help you to develop a positive solution.

Having successfully led my own teams through over 10 ISI inspections and numerous Ofsted inspections, I am able to help ensure that your provision is in perfect order ahead of your inspection. This is delivered as a one-day session, in which I will examine policies and procedures, spend time in the setting and meet with relevant staff. I will provide a detailed report describing all potential areas of non-compliance, and areas that need attention in order to ensure that your school or setting is in the best possible state of preparation ahead of your call.
Staff supervision is so much more than just a statutory requirement in early years settings. Over my years in leadership I have developed a powerful supervision system that ensures that all staff feel supported, aligned and motivated. I am able to establish this approach in your setting, alongside your team, or to deliver the supervision programme for you - freeing up your senior leaders to focus on other things, while ensuring that you get all the critical information that you need. This also provides your staff with a neutral, open platform in which to discuss their reflections, any concerns and target areas which best supports their ongoing development.
For many Heads, Early Years is not their specialist area, so they can struggle to give their early years leaders the support and challenge that they need in effective supervision. Passing this over to a specialist will ensure that your early years leaders can do the very best job for every child and staff member in the setting, and maintain their development and expertise.
Staff supervision can be delivered online or in-person.
